The cement industry is responsible for 8% of global CO₂ emissions, making it one of the most difficult industrial sectors to decarbonize. Emissions come from both the combustion of fossil fuels and the calcination of limestone, a chemical process inherent to clinker production.

Industrialization is not a luxury but a necessity for developing economies.
